Aloe Vera and Beauty

The Aloe Vera is a perennial with succulent leaves and a spike of yellow and orange flowers.

Better known as Aloes the plant is native to eastern and southern Africa and grows wild in the tropics and is cultivated worldwide.  The plant has two distinct types of medicinal properties. The clear gel contained in the leaf is a remarkable effective healer of wounds and burns, speeding up the rate of healing and reducing the risk of infection. The liquid from the base of the leaf, yellowish in colour is when dried and in powder form known as ‘bitter aloes’ which is a strong laxative.

It is also widely used in beauty preparations.

Beauty Applications

To treat acne, apply enough aloe Vera juice to cover the affected area. Leave for 10 minutes before rinsing. Apply daily. Skin may become dry, but only initially.

For a marvellous skin tonic, smooth a little fresh juice over the face and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing.
To ease cracked and sore lips, apply aloe juice daily.

To sooth dry sensitive or irritated skin, apply fresh gel directly onto the skin. To help heal any cuts or scratches caused by the razor, apply a little aloe Vera gel after shaving.
